Feels about Rational Argument

Image
Shello turtles! It's incredible how we've reached this point in the semester! This has been quite a journey. I want to be open with you all – right now, I'm dealing with COVID, and it's hitting me pretty hard. I've been stuck in bed since Tuesday, but amidst the illness, I've been dedicated to working on my rational argument. However, I'll be honest; my mind is a bit all over the place, and I'm not entirely sure if I'm doing a good job. While I have confidence in my sources, the clarity in my writing feels a bit uncertain. Despite the uneasiness, I'm sticking to the plan I've laid out. Hopefully, the final outcome turns out better than how it may read in its current state. I don't feel too confident, but it is what it is, and I feel like I did my best and that's what matters in the end. Right? Alright, second to last blog, let's go! Until next time turtles!

What I Learned about Scholarly Research

Image
Shello turtles! This week I learned about scholarly research! I didn't know that this was a thing until recently. I guess it's a good thing I took notes about it. From what I learned, scholarly  research is like a thorough and careful investigation carried out by experts in a specific field. The main goal is to add new information, check if existing ideas are correct, or answer specific questions. Unlike just looking for casual information on google, scholarly research follows strict rules and methods. It starts with looking at all the previous work on a topic to find what's missing and figure out what questions to explore. Then, researchers might run experiments, do surveys, or analyze data to get important answers. Usually, they gather this information of people who fall under the category they are experimenting on. The results of scholarly research usually get shared in special academic journals after being checked by other experts. This helps make sure the work is ...

What I Learned about the Library

Image
Shello turtles! I hope you're off to great weekend! It's my first weekend without going to work, and I'm so sad about it! I miss my coworkers and I miss being in costume. But I will say, I do not miss dealing with people and I really like being in bed at 8 pm 😋 This week marked my second or third visit to the library this semester, and it turned out to be quite an informative experience. The focus of the class was heavily on gathering information, and I gained valuable insights into accessing the North Central Library online. The session provided me with practical knowledge on utilizing filters to refine my searches, enabling me to pinpoint specific items more efficiently. As a result, I now feel more equipped to navigate the library's online resources, a skill that will undoubtedly enhance my ability to find relevant and specific materials for future research and academic pursuits. I also memorized the specific website to go to. It's library.noctrl.edu. I'm p...

Ideas for the next essay

Image
Shello turtles! I'm currently having writers block on what question I should write my essay about... I do know I want to write about something that hits close to home so I can enjoy writing this essay, but I don't know what interests me.  Coming up with an idea for writing is like finding your way through a big corn maze of choices. The empty page stares at me, asking for a cool and interesting idea to come to life. It's not just about making a good story or argument; there's also this feeling like you have to discover something interesting and special. Your mind is a busy place, filled with thoughts that are only halfway there, all wanting your attention. As a writer, you deal with not being sure, worrying about using overused ideas, and always searching for that special idea that makes your writing exciting. It's like a careful dance between wanting to be creative and knowing that a lot of ideas have been used before. The many choices can feel like a big challeng...

True colors

Image
Shello turtles. Not too much in a happy mood this week, so I apologize for the depressing post. I cut someone out of my life, and well, I'm not taking it too well. I know that it was for the best, but they were in my life for 2 years. How can someone like that change so much? I should hate them, but I can't. I have some regrets, but they changed into something I can't fix. Sometimes, people will show their true colors to you, and you have to make the complicated decision of whether you handle it or not. So, this is my advice for you: It's perfectly okay to let go of toxic people in your life for the sake of your well-being and happiness. Toxic individuals can drain your energy, create unnecessary stress, and hinder your personal growth. When you surround yourself with negativity, it becomes challenging to maintain a positive mindset and pursue your goals. Letting go of toxic people allows you to create space for positive relationships and opportunities that contribute ...

Halloween Makeup

Image
Shello turtles! Hey there! I hope your week is fantastic! Something exciting happened to me—I wore makeup for the first-time last week! It felt amazing, especially because I usually have to wear a mask for my job. The full mask was causing a weird rash on my face, which never happened last year. I guess it's because I haven't taken a break from wearing it at all. Last year, I didn't work as many days, so I think my skin is not happy with me working so much now. But the best part is, I can now express so much more of my personality! People can see me smiling and even laugh at them, which is so liberating! Shoutout to Birdy, my makeup artist—he's doing a fantastic job! He's still getting the hang of doll makeup, but I think he nailed it. Can't wait to see what he comes up with next! So, if you can, come visit me while I'm working, I promise I won't scare you too hard...or maybe I will. It just depends on the day because Saturdays are very busy. I just hop...

It's Friday the 13th!

Shello turtles! It's Friday the 13th! How many of your guys are superstitious? I will say I am. Although, I have been raised that way. I also believe in urban legends. My parents would always threaten me with La Llorona (aka the weeping woman) every time I would throw a fit. That would actually work on me because I have heard stories from my uncle about her. The one that stuck to me was when he heard her cries as a child, and even caught a glimpse of her ghostly figure. So, I decided to go ahead and tell you the story of the weeping woman. Keep in mind, there are multiple versions of this story, so I'll just tell you it the way I heard it. A long time ago, in a Mexican village, there lived a beautiful woman named Maria. She was known throughout the region for her beauty, charm, and grace. One day, she caught the eye of a wealthy nobleman, and the two quickly fell in love. Soon they were married and had two children, whom Maria adored. However, as time passed, her husband beca...
