Working at a Haunted House
Shello turtles!
I hope you guys are having a great start to spooky season! So far, working hasn't been too busy, although I may change my mind toward the end of the month. Working in a haunted house is really fun, but I feel like people don't understand that it is an actual job that tests our physical and mental ability. It's really fun, but it's also hard to actually pace yourself so you won't wear yourself out by the middle of your shift. It also takes a lot of strength to not start anything with rude customers. Our mentality is that it's a win-lose situation. You win as a worker because you are still getting paid, and the customer loses because they had a bad time and they basically paid you.
I think the thing I dread most is the long hours on Saturdays. Ticket sales end at 11 p.m. but sometimes, if we're lucky, we'll be getting out at 12 a.m. because the line could be backed up. It's honestly a pain because no matter how many groups they send in, it feels like an eternity. Sometimes my mind starts to wonder and think, "I could've been in bed right now, with my fluffy blanket, watching movies and falling asleep." Then I remind myself that I'm doing it for the paycheck because I need to have some type of motivation, right? Even though it's been a few days, I think it's going to be a good season for Basement of the Dead. I just hope the newbies are going to make it to the end of the season, because they are in for a treat.
Have a good weekend everyone!
