20 Feet from Stardom
Shello turtles!
It's been one busy week! But I hope you guys are doing well!
Today I'm going to talk about the documentary I watched that is named 20 Feet from Stardom. It's about the backup singers that preform with well-known artists.
One scene that got to me was the backup singer that was going to originally sing with Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson wanted her to sing with him at his upcoming show. You could really tell that she was very excited to make an appearance and possibly a big debuted could have happened. Her career could have taken off with that show. As she was on her way to the stadium, she got a call. Everything came crashing down in that moment. Michael Jackson had died that very day. She said that she felt that she was in no state to sing at his funeral. But she did.
Honestly, it made me very sad for her. Sometimes, life doesn't go the way we plan it. And yes, obviously there is going to be a lot of pain. But we push ourselves to keep going. That right there is inspirational. It really did catch me off guard when she said that she was going to perform with Mr. Jackson. I was thinking to myself, "Wow, how come I've never seen her?" Then, it came down to her saying that he had passed away. That made me very sad for her.
I wonder how she is doing now. Backup singers deserve more credit than they get. If they want to go solo, maybe they need more of a push because they aren't thinking for themselves. Maybe they are more selfless than we actually know.
There’s a scene where there were three birds that were sitting on a branch, then one flew off leaving the other two alone. I think that is supposed to visualize how backup singers sometimes leave their flock to go one to their solo careers. Sometimes they make it, sometimes they don’t.
Alright turtles! That’s Al for this week! Remember to climb out of those shells and go make your dreams a reality.
